Heavy and melodic, pulling from post-punk, darkwave, pop and gothic themes, Lies We Were Told have been playing and recording in Portland, Oregon since 2013. Their sound, though unique, is reminiscent of earlier bands like Killing Joke and Joy Division, evoking a sound from another era, while remaining at home alongside modern bands in the post-punk revival camp.
